Mark Philips is no longer Fishbone's guitarist. He announced on social media that his other musical commitments as a composer and a producer had expanded in a way that no longer was compatible with being in Fishbone. Mark had assumed guitar duties in January 2020 after John Bigham had left to pursue his solo career. In his 4+ years on guitar, Mark played close to 120 shows and contributed the song Wake up My Child to the 2023 EP which unfortunately was never performed live. Besides his skills as a musician and a composer, Mark's positive personality will be greatly missed.
While the last few months have been rocky for Fishbone, this additional departure apparently happened in good terms, as Fishbone hopes that Mark will be able to join them one more time for the last NOFX show at Punk in Drublic in San Pedro in October and that some of his new songs will make it to the new album currently being recorded.
Fishbonelive.org wishes all the best to Mark!
