This was my fourth Fishbone show and possibly the best. A bunch of my friends came with me, and I promised them a good show. We even ran out of room in the car and had to put someone in the trunk. Some of them had seen fishbone on Lollapalooza the year before and didn't get the right impression. To get a true fishbone experience you need to be in a club up close and personal. Anyway, Biohazard opened up the show and the crowd was very mixed, and already rowdy. Before Fishbone went on they dimmed the lights and started playing this non-stop loop of what sounded like Porky the Pig laughing over and over. The crowd got more and more rowdy and anxious and everyone was packed in tight. Angelo then came out and performed his poem "Ass Ass", making even more people antsy for the music. One by one they came onto the stage and I believe open up with "Properties of Propaganda". The crowd was so tight you couldn't control where you moved, you just went with the flow.
I don't remember the set list, but I remember that during "Pressure" Angelo surfed the crowd with a wired mic, not his usual wireless, and got tangled up and climbed onto the balcony, dove off, and the crowd went nuts holding him up and passing him around. The best "Pressure" performance I ever witnessed.
Everything else is a blur. Everyone went home a Bone convert that night, as Fishbone proved once again they were "the baddest band in the world".
