yeah, I made it out there. The people who put it on didn't publicize it
for crap, though. Out of the 35 presale tickets that there were, my group
accounted for 10 of them. Plus they ended up waiting for over an hour
after the scheduled start time just to see if anyone else would show; about
100 people finally made it in. I saw them last spring at Peabody's in
Cleveland. Peabody's is pretty small, but there were about 250-300 people
packed in. But the place in Oberlin was a full sized gym. So you can
imagine how much extra space there was. Kick Ass show, though. They
opened with 'Monkey Dick' followed by 'Warmth of your Breath', only the
intro was a slower groove of the ending of the song... you know
"Doughnuts!!"...."Cigarrettes!!"..."Coffee!!". They played a set of mostly
lesser-known songs with a few classics.
I let my friend borrow the setlist for a couple days so he could show it
off, but I can give you a rough idea:
Monkey Dick
Warmth of Your Breath
-
Alcoholic
Problems
Aselection
-
Black Box (for those who haven't heard this yet, it's some powerful- ass
political shit)
-
Lyin' Ass Bitch
Beergut
-
If I
Ma and Pa
Party at Ground Zero
I'll get the whole thing on in a day or two.
After the show I had a 20 minute conversation with Norwood about everything
from Flea and the Peppers to basses and amps to Anti-Racist Action (the
organization). Angelo was pretty conversational, too, but of course there
were more people after him. Overall it was the best show that I think I've
ever been to. It was great that the size of the audience didn't effect the
performance in a negative way. Later...
