A college buddy and I went up for the show at Headliners Wednesday. Unfortunately the place only got half full, and there was no pit or swimming by anyone.
The band played great but John Steward looked kinda pissed thru the whole show even tho he performed impressively. Maybe his monitor was off. After the show I gave Angelo the Fantomas CD. I hope he didn't already have it, he was being bombarded by so many people he hardly knew what I was trying to give him. But earlier I had the pleasure of "talking Patton" with him. He said they actually did a show with Fantomas last month! I poked the fire a little and mentioned the whole Kiedis vs. Bungle thing, with Bungle getting removed from some festivals because of Kiedis, and he confirmed Patton had told him that. (I just love the thought of Mike Patton having that discussion with Angelo.) I mentioned how great it would be if Angelo & Mike would made some music together, and he really seemed to agree with me.
It was John Mcnutt's birthday and he got several kisses from all the dancers after Pants. He and Angelo were the only ones to come out after the show. He surprised me a lot by mentioning a few shows he saw me at while he was onstage even tho I didn't see him before or after. Great Musician, and amazing person, John.
