What an awesome show! Fishbone was red hot! I would give it a 10 except that the Hollyood Paladium gig in 1991 it the standard and that show is almost impossible to top.

The crowd at Rider's turned out to be pretty good after all too. I was a little concerned since there was almost no publicity about the show and Hilton Head has a very low "permanent" population, quite the resort town. But Fishbone was tight and the sound was great with a couple of exceptions. The only real problem I saw was that the stage was so tiny they could all barely fit up there without bumping into each. I think this caused Rocky's guitar to come unplugged a couple of times. Dre Holmes' keyboards seemed really low in the mix also. I could only really hear him on slower numbers, otherwise he got lost in the barage of guitars and horns.

They just looked like they were having great fun performing. I'm really impressed with the lineup right now and I particularly like Dre Holmes. He does a great job picking up in Kibby's absence, and I do miss Kibby. Dre seems really young which gives the guys a new youthful punch. But they all seem youthful regardless of age.

I got there early so I caught the sound checks also and it was clear to me even then why this band should keep on keeping on. They have fun together. They were cutting up and BSing and having fun just getting their equipment in order. A soundcheck highlight was seeing and hearing John McKnight on guitar and John Steward doing a little impromptu "I Walk the Line" by Johnny Cash while Angelo and the rest of the guys were laughing their asses off! So, I recommend getting to shows early if you can, you never know what little treats you might get.

I don't remember the exact set list order, but I can remember many songs they played and I'll post them in here and if someone remembers the exact order they can post them in the acutal setlist link. I'll just look throught the albums and pick out what I remember:

Ugly
Another Generation
Lyin' Ass Bitch
Freddie's Dead
Ma and Pa
Subliminal Fascism
Everyday Sunshine
Sunless Saturday
Unyielding Conditioning
Servitude (I think)
Beergut
Alcoholic
Karma Tsunami
There was at least one more song that I did not recognize.

No Tori Ruffin, anybody know what's up with that?

These guys are still one of the best and no band puts a smile on my face like Fishbone.
