Okay, it was two and a half songs. BUT it sounded so fucking tight that it was unbelievable. These motherfuckers didn''t take a two song set as that...they forced an entire show into 15 minutes. Upstaged everyone. That is a fact. Come back and play NYC again.
I rated it 9 stars, not a 10 only because I don't really like tv and the 15 minutes of Fishbone was no where near enough. But I suppose if I was at someone's house with digital tv, I might turn it on. I guess viewer content is at least better than most tv. (When Lauryn Hill made her first speech "they told me to say...." hahah that was classic! Summed up my feelings about a tv channel perfectly. like who cares? lol then her serenade at the end -wow!)
I definitely wanted to see more Fishbone though!! I've been a fan since '91 and saw them a few times in NJ, but hadn't seen them since the early 90's-- been real busy -- but it was so good to see them again and performing even better than I remembered. :) :) :) I thought Angelo's spoken word at the beginning was amazing!
Then I couldn't believe my ears when they sang Party at Ground Zero- for some reason I forgot about that song but then it all came back when I heard it- wow the memories. It made me think of the big ground zero i lived through since I first heard it in high school which just made it all that much more. I can't stop listening to all my old tapes since then and I can't wait till next time they come to NYC! :)
THANX for the show Fishbone!!! (and current tv)
p.s. De La Soul rocked my sox too- so smooth. i feel unfair to write a review and not mention that :)
2 fucking songs. Suffering and Party At Ground Zero. Two. Fuck you, Al Gore and your stupid ass cable channel. Waste of my fucking time.
P.S. De La Soul was good. They got 25 whole minutes.
