I've lost count of how many times I've seen Fishbone (it's well over 20) but I have only been going to shows for a few years, so I can't speak to the old days...but I will say that I've seen Fishbone through a number of players, and the current line-up put on the BEST Fishbone show I've ever seen this past Saturday night. The band was tighter than I've ever seen them, the sound was bigger, and the set was fresh and exciting. I'm not usually fond of their newer material, but some of these new songs frickin' blew me away. Watching the show, I couldn't help thinking that they had watched a video of one of their shows and figured out what needed to be done.
Best part of the show last week?
This is the first time that I've seen them and they didn't play "Ma and Pa"
I have nothing against the song, but it's depressing when a band has to play a certain song (and I'm not even talking about a top 10 hit here) at every single show. Could this be a sign that Those Days Are Gone? (Sorry, I couldn't resist)
They said the new album will be out within the next 4 months. I believe them, too. As far as merch goes, they had red Fuck Racism shirts and girly tanks, hats, rasta flip flops (rasta flip flops that they slapped an embroidered, round Fishbone logo on--same patch from the hats and wrist bands), and Dr Madd Vibe girly tanks & CDs. If there's a Fishbone show that you are considering going to--do not put it off!
What's the latest on this new CD?
xoxo
