I guess I was the only list member at the show Wed. night, but it's okay by
me. This is the 2nd SC show I've seen in a row, and both times Angelo has
told me that Florida shows may be slow in coming due to some legal problems
involving him. Evidently, the statute of limitations has yet to expire on
whatever he did, so FL shows seem to be somewhat blackballed (hey pupupu, I
feel your pain dude). I made the drive in under 3 hours, so that's not too
bad. The venue was nice, but it was somewhat of a crackerbox. Small stage,
but the sound was very good. Good opening band, S.M.O., who closed with a
killer cover of Tommy the Cat. Fishbone was tight as usual, with their set a
little more ska oriented than the Charleston show back in May. Their set was
as follows:
Alcoholic
Just Allow
Ma & Pa
Those Pants
I Wish I Had a Date
Shakey Ground
Behavior Control Tech (does this song ever sound bad?!)
Aids
Question of Life
All Kept Startin
Cholly
Suffering
Lemon Meringue
Freddy
Karma
One Planet People
Party at GZ
Monkey Dick, with Sunless Saturday left off their setlist. Huge bummer here.
The band was receptive as always. No two nicer, more approachable dudes on
Earth than Angelo and John McKnight. They talk to you as if you've known
them all your life. Also talked to Walt, who told me his cd is due out Oct.
3rd. Spacey T hung out more than normal afterwards as well. A really nice
guy, brilliant guitar player, just a lot quieter and to himself than the
others. I really enjoyed watching him play, up close this time. He told me
that Mother's Finest was coming out with a new disc soon, which I think he's
a part of in some fashion. A great show all told, but not quite as manic as
the Charleston show. Way too small of a club. That's enough for now. Later
