Well, 6th Fishbone gig in Switzerland in less than 8 months... Though I could attend only 3 of those, I wouldn't have believed it about 2 years ago. Still, here they were, in my birthtown, Vevey, yesterday evening (June 17).
Don't remember the supporting act's name nor really listened to them so I'm going straight to the Bone's part. Norwood was wearing this weird mask (Slipknot meets Mickey Mouse like) during the 1st song as I think I understood he did in previous euro dates. Walt, who seemed happier as ever on stage, had his smile almost reaching both his ears. Angelo, surpisingly enough for me, didn't spend a single second in the audience to get them involved more. How many people were there ? I don't really have an idea. Do you, Nico ? Yet everyone seemed to have fun.
I had never read they had done it that way before so I was kind of surprised that the band played the song almost in a chronological order. Started with old to very old, mostly ska, tunes (don't have the exact setlist) : PARTY, SKANKIN', GIVE IT UP, LYIN' ASS BITCH, VTTLOTFDGF (didn't expect this one, probably the 1st time I heard it live), ALCOHOLIC, PROBLEMS, CHOLLY, MA AND PA. Then, after a break with KARMA TSUNAMI, came the Reality/Gamab/songs-written-by-former-members era : SUNLESS SATURDAY, SWIM, EVERYDAY SUNSHINE. I don't exactly remember in what order they played the songs in the two encores but I know they were BONIN' and RIOT. The only Temple Bar song they performed was DEMON (they had played 6 or 7 out of 8 in last year's gigs so I found strange they didn't play many of the newer tunes) and they ended with RED HOT. Did I forget anything ??
When I asked Wet Daddy about the order of the tunes, he just answered "It's Norwood who wrote the set" but I didn't get to talk to him. Any way, all in all (though the entire gig seemed a little short to me but hey, I certainly say the same thing about everytime), I had a great great time for a Tuesday eve... Do I need to mention I won't complain if they come back around soon ??
I guess Nico's gonna tell you more about the other 2 Switzerland dates. Till then, I'm going to sleep !
