Encore: FISHBONE IS RED HOT!
Great set list, good mix of old and new (again: Lose Our Minds is a GREAT song, my favorite of the new batch!), and a really great show. Crowd wasn't as big
as the last time they played Harper's Ferry, earlier this year -- pre-show promotion was non-existent, though the Globe did mention it in a quick blurb the
day of .....
Purposefully skipped Blowfly, caught most of DW's set (led me to think about how it's incredibly valuable for great sports teams to have really good role
players to complement the superstars, even though they can't really carry the team themselves ... Walt is Scottie Pippen to Angelo's Jordan!), Angelo did a few poems, and Fishbone took the stage!
I took a few friends, one of whom hadn't seen Fishbone for many years, and was worried they wouldn't be the same ... her quote, just a couple of songs into the
show: "wow, they're still really good!" Her husband and sister-in-law, who are Ethiopian (though have lived here for a bunch of years) were, I think, completely unprepared for what they witnessed (especially Angelo stage-diving, which he did I think three times), but were very impressed!
I also had the same feeling someone mentioned earlier, about how much I completely respect people who work as hard as they can, no matter how many people are paying attention -- the whole band, but especially Angelo.
It's really inspiring, and a good example for the rest of us to follow!
