Simon (Smith) has just left my place after sleeping on my couch for the night. Thanks for the beers mate!
Anyway, last night's gig. Set list was:
Jah-Jah
Nuttmeg World
Party at Ground Zero
Karma Tsunami
Primadawnutt
(After this the order is completely wrong but at least these are the tracks):
Bonin'
Pressure
Are You Wid It?
Skankin to the Beat
Junkie's Prayer
Ma + Pa
Freddie's Dead
Alcoholic
Aids + Armageddon
In the Heat of Anger
Fishbone is Red Hot
I've seen Fishbone three times before back in '92 and '93 (you must've all heard our UK complaints about the band not visiting) and I would say that this was as good as I've ever seen them. The stage at the Underworld is very small but even with a whole load of stage divers getting up and joining them - even knocking Spacey's guitar and disconnecting Angelo's mike at times - they didn't get knocked out of their stride. I'm not sure what my highlight would be - possibly Are You Wid It? which was superb.
And most important of all - the gig was completely sold out. There were people hanging around outside on the off-chance that they could get tickets. On the way there Simon and I were both sort of nervous that there'd be the two of us, my girlfriend, a couple of curious drinkers and the band. No fear of that - I've never seen the Underworld that rammed.
I didn't get a chance to talk to the band really. The band finished at 11 at which point the bouncers tried to usher us all out of the door so that the venue could start their club night. Simon chatted to Spacey very briefly and asked him whether Sarah was there - Simon has told me about the Nuttwork t-shirts :-) - but apparently she wasn't and after that we had to go.
Merchandising - 2 Dr Maddvibe albums and a book, loads of t-shirts and tops and copies of the Crazy Baldheads 7".
Best wishes all
Jon

Excellent show - well worth the 9 year wait (bit of a theme developping here !)
Good to see the venue so full especially with what seemed to alot of people who had never seen the band before. Thanks to Jon for the contacting the press.
Shame there was now time for an encore, bouncers were abit agressive in getting everyone out within 10 minutes of end of the gig but I guess you have to get used to that with the UK's licencing laws.
Support band - Adequate 7 - were good and joined in the stage diving. I was talking them afterwards and they'd never heard of fishbone before joining the tour.
Angelo was in the World's End upstairs before the gig eating a Kebab and wearing a very fetching bowler hat. I had a quick chat with him - said he was a bit jet-lagged but looking forward to being back in Europe.
See you all at the Marquee
Nigel
